madden_08_cover.jpgMost of the achievements in Xbox 360 sports games are only as hard as you want them to be, and Madden 08 seems to continue this trend.  Pit the strongest team against the weakest, use great players, tweak the AI in your favor and you’re ready for some of the cheapest unlocking there is. user “silentdeath0305” has whipped up a simple and comprehensive guide to snag those 1000 points with ease and a little persistence.  Or you could do it the really easy way

Personally, this is the only way I can enjoy sports games.  They’re so repetitive to me in the first place, but cheap and meaningless achievements manage to keep my interest and give me…well, the only reason to even play them at all.  I’ll rent this at some point just for a quick +1000 to my gamerscore and be done with it.  Plus I pay football about the same amount of attention as I give to the Brangelina family outings.  So…how about them Houston Oilers…? 😉

(Yes, I know…)

skate-logo.jpgThe Tony Hawk franchise’s first serious threat is set to seduce us with its wares in the form of a rather unique demo hitting Xbox Live Marketplace next Tuesday.  One of the selling points of the full version is that it allows players to upload and share gameplay videos, and we’ll actually get to sample that functionality in the upcoming demo.  Technical problems with said feature led to the demo’s delay from last Tuesday, but those are said to have been ironed out.  Also, check out the new skate Suburbs trailer at showcasing the title’s remarkably smooth animation.

UPDATE:  skate demo is now available from Xbox Live Marketplace.

Others include rewards for winning in-game medals, defeating other golf pros, and for scoring Producer Points on EA Sports Gamernet.

This generically-named Gamernet sounds like a neat idea, and is being implemented only in Tiger Woods 08 for now. Let’s say you sink an impossible chip shot from a bunker at fifty yards. You can upload that shot to Gamernet and challenge others to duplicate your shot. You earn points for completing other players’ challenges, and you score Producer Points by having others complete the ones you’ve uploaded. Players can accept challenges ranging from single shots to entire course runs and, as expected, points earned depend on difficulty.

Producer Points are based on how many other people accept your challenge, so earning a reputation as a great player will carry significant weight. 1000-point completionists will probably have their hands full with this one, so we can expect a lot of boosting going on.
